About the film

Theatre of the Absurd is an experimental animation by American creator Fran Forman, finished in 2025 and running about 13 minutes, hosted on caisroom, CloudWalk's curated platform for AI cinema. The synopsis says it examines the psychological and political mechanisms of totalitarianism, and how thin the line can be between truth and illusion, freedom and submission, with laughter and fear sitting close together. On her FilmFreeway page, the director describes three acts, "The Rehearsal," "The Farce" and "The Final Curtain": a woman tends her cat as uniforms replace individuality around her, the city turns into a grotesque circus, and it ends on deserted streets and a red swing, with a mime throughout performing warnings no one heeds. The film grows out of her photo-montage work: each frame starts as a staged photograph and is transformed through digital painting, montage and AI morphing. It borrows the visual language of 1940s Eastern Europe, but she says it isn't a period piece; the point is that patterns of power repeat. The screening page lists Midjourney, Vidu AI and VEO, and tags it as animation and experimental. At 13 minutes, it's the longest of this batch's caisroom films.

Who it's for:viewers interested in politics, history and social issues who enjoy reflective, experimental work.

Before you watch: it plays publicly on caisroom; we haven't played it ourselves. About 13 minutes; language and subtitles aren't listed. It deals with totalitarianism and political oppression; the director's notes describe symbolic characters and name no real people. No reuse rights are granted.
