About the film
Houdini: Back from the Dead is a three-part history series that Red Rock Films made for FOX Nation. It premiered on October 14, 2026, just ahead of the 100th anniversary of Houdini's death on October 31, 1926. The episodes follow the escape artist's life: a childhood accident, his bond with his mother, a staged rivalry with his brother, a short spell as an aviator, his fascination with death, his marriage to Bess, his relationship with Charmian London and his campaign against fraudulent spiritualist mediums. FOX's press release calls it FOX Nation's first full-length, multi-episode production made entirely with AI-generated imagery. The production licensed archival footage and more than 400 historic photographs as source material for a team of AI artists, and actors played the main roles before AI changed their appearance to look like the historical figures. The scripts were written entirely by people, the spoken words come from diaries, books, letters and other historical writings, and the history was checked through archival research and expert review. The release spells out where the material came from and which parts were done by people, which makes it useful for anyone curious how AI gets used on real history.
Who it's for:viewers interested in Houdini and the history of magic, and creators who want to see how a major platform handles AI with real historical figures.
Before you watch: it needs a FOX Nation subscription, a members-only on-demand service; check the official site for pricing. The press release lists foxnation.com and apps on iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV and other devices. The release doesn't say which countries can watch; when we checked, the series page said it's only open in the US and its territories. It's in English; subtitles and episode length aren't mentioned. The series uses AI to recreate real historical people. The release says the archival footage and photos were licensed, but the terms aren't public.
