Auntlantis

Auntlantis is an AI video series by Singapore-based creator Niceaunties and part of the Auntieverse, the world the artist has been building; the site calls it a surreal underwater chapter. The site says it draws on Plato's Atlantis and the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, mixing mythology with environmental decline: the world is overrun by plastic waste, and the aunties clean beaches and deal with creatures that have merged with plastic debris. The series page lists five episodes: Trashy Friends, Workshop, Sweeping The Floor, Day In the Life Of and Vacation, each with its own player page. On the site's home page, Niceaunties writes that AI is used to build the Auntieverse. The Auntieverse has other chapters to explore after this one.

Who it's for:viewers who enjoy surreal images and odd invented worlds, and anyone who cares about ocean plastic.

Before you watch: free on the Niceaunties site, with each of the five episodes on its own page; we haven't checked the length of each episode. The site doesn't mention language or subtitles. The name Auntlantis appears in the Reply AI Film Festival 2024 official list of films, but we haven't confirmed whether that festival cut matches these five episodes. No reuse rights are granted.
