What it is
xiaohongshu-mcp is an open-source MCP server by GitHub user xpzouying. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an interface that lets AI assistants call outside tools. The README describes it as letting "your AI assistant access Xiaohongshu data directly." It opens a browser on your computer; once you scan the QR code to sign in to Xiaohongshu, any MCP-capable AI assistant can use it to read notes and data, and also to publish image or video notes, post comments and reply. Reading, publishing and engagement all run through one server, and the README also explains how to connect it to OpenClaw. The README is in Chinese and English.
Who it's for:Developers and social media operators who can deploy a service themselves and are prepared to manage their own Xiaohongshu account access. If you don't write code, you won't need it.
Before you start: The code is free under the Apache-2.0 licence; your AI client and model have their own costs. You first sign in to Xiaohongshu by hand in the browser it opens, and your signed-in session (cookies) is saved to a local file, cookies.json in the current folder by default. The server has no access check by default, and the README suggests setting AUTH_TOKEN yourself. Your AI assistant sees the Xiaohongshu content it reads back. We don't recommend the features that act on your account once your session is saved, such as automatic posting, commenting, replying, liking and saving, because they publish directly under your account.
Based on the project's public documentation. Not tested by AI Inspiration World.
