What it is
webnovel-writer is a Claude Code plugin by GitHub user lingfengqaq for writing long serialized web novels. It splits a book into steps: setting up the world, planning volumes, writing chapters, reviewing, and checking the story state, each with its own command. Before each chapter the AI looks up what's already established; afterwards it records what happened and runs a consistency check. The author says the goal is simple: keep the AI faithful to the settings, plot threads and outline even hundreds of chapters in.
Highlights:
- /webnovel-write writes a full chapter, from gathering context to drafting, review, polish and record-keeping
- /webnovel-review checks a chapter for pacing, continuity and characters drifting out of character
- /webnovel-dashboard opens a read-only panel with project status, a character relationship graph and chapter text.
How to use:
- First run claude plugin marketplace add lingfengQAQ/webnovel-writer --scope user in Claude Code, then claude plugin install webnovel-writer@webnovel-writer-marketplace --scope user
- finally install the Python dependencies and type /webnovel-init to set up a book through a Q&A.
Who it's for:
Web novelists writing long series in Claude Code who worry about the story contradicting itself later on.
Before you start:
- You need Claude Code and Python 3.10 or later.
- Semantic search needs API keys for an embedding and a rerank service; the README's example uses ModelScope and Jina, and chapter text is sent to whichever service you set.
- Without them it still works and falls back to keyword search.
- The README says this branch is the Claude Code version (v6), maintained for critical bugs only, while the newer v8 runs on a different platform.
- The top of the README carries sponsor ads and referral links for several API resellers; they are separate from the plugin's features.
- Costs depend on the models and APIs you use; check their official sites.
- GPL-3.0 license.
