What it is
video-editor-skills is a set of Claude Code Skills by GitHub user appariciojunior that turns Claude Code into a first-pass editor for YouTube vlogs and class videos in DaVinci Resolve Studio. You film and make the taste calls, while Claude imports, cuts retakes and dead air, keeps your B-roll, scores the video, writes clean captions, adds brand motion graphics and helps you export. The repository has 12 Skills, including setup, edit-video and rough-cut. The README says it contains skills only and no code: Claude reads the Skills and then writes small scripts with you for your setup.
Highlights:
- First-pass editing in DaVinci Resolve Studio
- Cuts retakes and dead air, keeps B-roll, writes captions and adds brand motion graphics
- 12 Skills, including setup, edit-video and rough-cut
- Skills only, no code, with scripts written by Claude together with you
How to use:
- First, install the folders from skills into Claude Code; the README shows copying them to `~/.claude/skills/`.
- Then open Claude Code in an empty folder and say "set up my video editor".
- Finally, create system/keys.env yourself as it tells you and put your speech-to-text key in it.
Who it's for:
People who edit vlogs or class videos in DaVinci Resolve and want an agent to do a first pass.
Before you start:
- You need Claude Code, DaVinci Resolve Studio, ffmpeg and Python 3.9 or later.
- You need your own speech-to-text service key, the music step draws on the Epidemic Sound library, and those services' charges apply.
- License: CC BY-NC 4.0, which requires attribution and allows non-commercial use only, and the author lists further limits, so read the LICENSE before using it.
