What it is
story-skills is a fiction-writing set by Daniel Dewhurst (GitHub user danjdewhurst): 24 Skills plus a story command-line tool (CLI). The README says it gives agents a shared project format for fiction: the story bible, characters, worldbuilding, plot arcs, scenes, continuity state, promises and payoffs, and chapter drafts, all as plain Markdown with YAML frontmatter.
Continuity gets its own files. Planted setups and each character's current state are written down, so the agent can check them as it drafts later chapters. It ships as Agent Skills and as Codex and Claude Code plugins.
Who it's for:Writers working on long fiction with AI who worry about details drifting out of sync.
Before you start: Install with npx or the package per the README, or add it as a Claude Code or Codex plugin; the story CLI needs Node and npm. It reads and writes your setting, character, chapter and style files locally. The repo includes optional GitHub Actions templates that only run if you copy them in and set your own API credentials. One sends your manuscript to GitHub and the Claude API every weekday at 06:00 UTC to draft, which may cost model fees. Another publishes a review copy to GitHub Pages, which makes the manuscript public. If you use these features, weigh the safety risks yourself. AI Inspiration World is not responsible for any consequences. Host AI costs are separate. MIT license. English only.
