What it is

skill-creator is a Skill in Anthropic's official skills repository for creating and improving other Skills. It works in a loop. It first asks what the Skill should do, when it should be used and what it should produce, then follows up on edge cases, input and output formats and success criteria. Next it writes the SKILL.md, keeping it under roughly 500 lines. It then runs a set of test prompts with and without the Skill and compares the results. Revisions aim to make the Skill hold up on cases beyond the test examples. Finally it tunes the description so Claude remembers to use the Skill when it should, and packages everything as a .skill file. Each round produces a review page so a person looks at the results before deciding what to change.
