What it is
skill.color-expert is an Agent Skill by GitHub user meodai, built from color resources the author keeps looking up and sharing. The agent first loads the key points in SKILL.md, and digs into the references folder only when it needs more. That folder holds video transcripts, article summaries, library docs and research notes on color naming, color theory, color spaces, gradients, accessible contrast and pigment mixing. What sets it apart is its three-layer setup: the agent reads the highlights by default and follows an index to the source material when needed.
Highlights:
- references/INDEX.md gives one line per reference file so the agent can pick the right one
- material is split into historical color science, contemporary color science, and tools and techniques
- an evals folder holds realistic trigger and task prompts for checking that the Skill fires when it should.
How to use:
- First run npx skills add meodai/skill.color-expert, which finds your installed agents and places the Skill.
- You can also git clone it and link it into your agent's skills folder.
- Later, run npx skills update to update.
Who it's for:
Designers and developers working on palettes, design systems or color tools who want sharper answers from their AI.
Before you start:
- You need an AI coding tool that supports Agent Skills, and Node.js for the npx route.
- Source PDFs aren't in the repo; the README lists Archive.org links instead.
- The docs are in English.
- The repo's original material (README.md, SKILL.md, references/INDEX.md and more) is under CC BY 4.0; third-party source material stays with its authors under its own licenses.
