What it is

pptx is a document Skill that Anthropic publishes in its official anthropics/skills repository. The README says the docx, pdf, pptx and xlsx folders are the Skills that power Claude's document creation and editing under the hood, shared with developers as a reference for more complex Skills. According to SKILL.md, it applies whenever a .pptx or .potx file is involved: creating decks, reading and extracting text, editing existing presentations, combining or splitting files, and working with templates, layouts, speaker notes and comments. New decks are generated by writing a pptxgenjs script. To edit an existing file or fill a template, it unzips the .pptx into XML, uses bundled scripts to duplicate slides and clean out slides and media that are no longer referenced, then zips it back up. To read content it uses markitdown, and it can also produce a labeled thumbnail grid of every slide to help pick template layouts. SKILL.md also includes design guidance, such as giving every slide a visual element like an image, chart or icon, never putting accent lines under titles, and using a white background when none is specified. What sets it apart is that checking is a required step: after generating, it checks content and leftover template placeholder text with markitdown, runs the bundled validate.py on the file structure (each failure names its fix), then converts every slide to an image and inspects each one for overflow, overlaps and misalignment. SKILL.md also notes that the preview is rendered with LibreOffice, which substitutes fonts it doesn't have, so it lists "safe fonts" that look the same in the preview and in PowerPoint.

Who it's for:people making presentations in Claude who want a .pptx they can keep editing in PowerPoint; developers studying how a complex Skill is written can also read its source.

Before you start: the README says these Skills are already available on Claude.ai paid plans, and in Claude Code you can add the anthropics/skills plugin marketplace and install the document-skills plugin, which brings in docx, pdf, pptx and xlsx together. The license is Anthropic's proprietary license (LICENSE.txt), and the README lists this as a source-available Skill. Use is governed by your agreement with Anthropic for its services, and the license adds that you may not extract these materials from the services or keep copies outside them, reproduce or copy them (except temporary copies made automatically during authorized use), create derivative works, or distribute or transfer them to any third party. That means it can't be moved into Codex or any other tool for use or redistribution; AI Inspiration World only describes it and points to the official repository. At run time it uses Node.js and Python packages such as pptxgenjs and markitdown, plus LibreOffice and Poppler, and SKILL.md says to install them with npm or pip only if they are missing. add_slide.py rewrites the input file in place unless you pass -o, and clean.py deletes unreferenced slides and media from the unpacked folder, so back up important files first. Check that you have the rights to any templates, images and fonts you put in a deck. The README says the Skills in this repository are for demonstration and educational purposes and that what you get in Claude may differ from what the repository shows.
