What it is
Pixelfx is a pixel art effects library maintained by GitHub user patch-gg. It has 232 effects written in code, such as fire, halos and rune circles, which you can preview and recolor in the official gallery. The effect code can go into Canvas-based browser games, or be exported as transparent PNG sprite sheets with Aseprite-style JSON for engines like Godot, Unity and Phaser. The repository's Skill teaches Claude Code to find, use and export effects, and to make new ones through a draft, render, look and revise loop. The README notes that some code and effects are adapted from Hugo Duprez's work and keeps his credit.
Who it's for:Indie developers making pixel-art games. If you don't write code you won't get much from the Skill itself, but you can still browse the gallery.
Before you start: The gallery opens in a browser with no account. The local tools need Node 18 or newer, and ffmpeg if you want GIF or MP4 exports. The Skill clones the repository, runs Node tools, and writes records, sprite sheets and new effect files into your project; its instructions also tell it to delete unused drafts, so it will change files in your project folder. The repository is free; Claude Code or other coding tools are billed separately, see their official sites. The code is MIT licensed, while the gallery's PatchPixel font keeps all rights reserved and isn't covered by the MIT license. Documentation is in English.
