What it is
mono-color is a Skill for AI agents, credited to Dreameryanyan. Give it a theme, a sentence, an object, an article idea or a photo, and it produces an editorial image in a limited ink palette. By default it uses two inks: one dominant plate and one accent kept to a small area. If you ask for one ink, it stays monochrome. There are eight single-ink colors, including cobalt, royal blue, botanical green, terracotta orange, signal red, aubergine and charcoal, plus nine fixed two-ink pairings. The rules are strict: no more than two inks, 25% to 55% of the paper left empty, visible halftone dots and grain, and no more than three typefaces. One example from the project: "make a vertical poster about a midnight convenience store, with the headline 'still open'." Along with the image, it returns the prompt it used and a recipe covering print mode, palette, layout and type.
Who it's for:designers drawn to risograph, zine and printmaking looks, and columnists who want illustrations in one consistent style.
Before you start: it is built mainly for Claude Code, and other agents that support Skills can load it. It needs an image generation tool; without one, the output format is limited. The project does not state a license.
