What it is
Legal Skills is a collection of AI agent Skills put together by lawyer 杨卫薪 (GitHub: cat-xierluo), who says the aim is to collect and share Skills for people who work in law. The repo has dozens of modules, including case analysis, judgment analysis, contract review, patent analysis, trademark examination support, legal research, legal document formatting, OCR and transcription, and Markdown to Word conversion. The author suggests downloading only the Skills you need from GitHub Releases; there are also "expert suites" bundled by type of work, which pick and distribute Skills but don't chain them together for you. A practicing lawyer has sorted the Skills by real legal tasks. Individual modules also have adaptations for tools such as Codex and Claude Code.
Who it's for:Lawyers, in-house counsel and law students who want AI in their everyday case and document work.
Before you start: You can have your agent install the whole collection from GitHub as the README describes, or download single Skills or expert suites from Releases. We don't recommend these modules: universal-media-downloader can read cookies from browsers such as Chrome and Safari to download audio and video, which means borrowing your browser's signed-in identity; pdf-processor includes PDF watermark removal and decryption; agent-email sends and receives email and uses the system keychain; multica-skill-update downloads an install script with curl and runs it straight through bash; night-autopilot and some other modules set up scheduled tasks. Check what each module does and install only what you need. piclist-upload sends local images to PicList, and tingwu-asr sends audio to Tingwu. Licenses differ by module: some are MIT and allow commercial use; others are CC BY-NC, so no commercial use without the author's permission. Cloud OCR and transcription services may charge separately. Docs are mostly in Chinese.
