What it is
kotlin-footguns is a set of Agent Skills by maxrave-dev that helps catch common pitfalls ("footguns," ways of writing code that are easy to hurt yourself with) in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and JVM projects. It's written in the open agent-skills format, with skills for ten areas plus a footgun-scan scanner, 11 SKILL.md files in all. The scanner uses only the Python standard library and git to read your local code and changes and list spots that may be a problem, without uploading anything. The rules come from the author's own development experience.
Who it's for:Developers working in Kotlin, Compose or the JVM who want an AI assistant to check their changes. Readers who don't write code won't have a use for it.
Before you start: You can install it from the Claude Code plugin marketplace or as editable files with npx skills; pick one, not both. The scanner only calls git and reads your code and changes, and the project describes no uploading, credential access or automatic publishing; your code still goes into the context of whatever AI assistant you use. You can add the scanner's --fail option to CI or a pre-commit check yourself, and the repository doesn't install hooks automatically. The license is GPL-3.0, not MIT. The repository has the author's sponsor links, but none of the features are paywalled.
Based on the project's public documentation. Not tested by AI Inspiration World.
