What it is
internal-comms is an Agent Skill that Anthropic publishes in the anthropics/skills repo. The SKILL.md describes it as a set of resources for writing all kinds of internal communications in the formats your company likes to use: 3P updates (Progress, Plans, Problems), company newsletters, FAQ answers, status reports, leadership updates, project updates and incident reports. The AI first works out which kind you need, then loads the matching guide from the examples folder, which holds four. A 3P update should take 30 to 60 seconds to read, opens with an emoji, the team name and the dates covered, and gives Progress, Plans and Problems one to three sentences each, with numbers where possible; a company newsletter runs to roughly 20 to 25 bullets in the "we" voice, grouped by theme and written for Slack and email; an FAQ gives each question in one sentence and the answer in one or two, marks anything uncertain and flags questions that need an executive response; anything else starts with questions about audience, purpose, tone and format. What sets it apart is that the guides say where to find the material: when the AI can reach Slack, Google Drive, email and calendar, it looks for channel posts with lots of responses, widely viewed docs and important meetings; when it can't, it asks you for the content and mostly fits what you give it to the format.
Who it's for:people who regularly write weekly updates, team progress notes, internal newsletters or FAQ drafts at work, especially on teams that talk in Slack.
Before you start: it only drafts and organizes. It has no scripts and won't send a Slack message or an email on its own; whether and to whom anything goes out is your call. The guides tell the AI to read company material in Slack, email, Google Drive and calendars, which it can do only if you've authorized those connectors in your AI tool; think about what that gives it access to first, or skip the connectors and paste the material in yourself. The newsletter guide assumes a company of 1,000+ people, so smaller teams should adjust the audience and length. Facts and figures should come from real material, and check every draft before it goes out. To install, run /plugin marketplace add anthropics/skills in Claude Code and then install the example-skills plugin (which installs 12 example Skills together), or copy just the skills/internal-comms folder. The repo README says these example Skills are already available on paid Claude.ai plans; check the official site for plan details. The README also says the Skills in this repo are for demonstration and educational purposes only, that what you get from Claude may differ from what they show, and that you should test them thoroughly in your own environment before relying on them for anything critical.
