What it is
The Hand-drawn Storybook Animation Skill is a Claude Skill open-sourced by X user HaileyAILabs for hand-drawn story animations in picture-book or ink-wash styles. On X, the author says she uses GPT to write the script, has Claude build and revise it, and adds Doubao voice for narration. The Skill guides Claude to write the animation in HTML Canvas, WebGL or React, add Doubao narration, and record the result as video. Claude draws every scene in code; no video generation model is involved.
Who it's for:Creators who want to make original picture-book or story animations with AI and are comfortable running commands on their computer.
Before you start: Upload the ZIP to Claude's Skills, or git clone and copy the Skill folder in; the instructions are in Chinese. Along the way Claude generates a project and uses tools such as React, esbuild, FFmpeg and Playwright to build and export it, so you need that environment set up. Narration needs your own Volcengine (Doubao voice) API key and is billed to your account; the script lines, voice and tone settings are sent to Volcengine's speech service. The script and production go through the GPT and Claude you use. The repository has no licence file; the author calls it open source but hasn't said whether commercial use is allowed, so ask the author first.
