What it is
gbro-cover-design is a cover design Skill by GitHub user pyang5166, who writes as 狗哥笔记. The README says it works with Claude Code, Codex and any AI agent that supports custom Skills. Give it your article and it asks you three rounds of questions, picks one of 10 composition styles, and writes Chinese prompts for a 3:4 cover for Xiaohongshu or a WeChat Official Account. It doesn't make the image itself; you take the prompts to the image tool of your choice. The prompts are written for image tools that accept several reference images at once, and the README names Seedream, Nano Banana and GPT-Image as examples. The author says the project builds on feitangyuan's oh-my-cover-design.
Who it's for:Writers who post on Xiaohongshu or WeChat often and want good covers without working out a layout from scratch each time.
Before you start: Put the whole repo in ~/.claude/skills/gbro-cover-design. Copying SKILL.md alone isn't enough; it needs the references folder too. It needs no API key, doesn't sign in to Xiaohongshu or WeChat, doesn't post for you, and runs nothing in the background.
You can keep a photo of your own face on your computer as a reference (assets/my-face.png) and save your preferences in config.md. Both files are excluded in .gitignore, so they won't be committed to Git. When you make the image, you hand your face photo and other material to an outside image service yourself. A face photo is sensitive, so read that service's terms first. Costs and data retention depend on the service you pick, and the README doesn't promise it's free.
