What it is
frontend-testing-debugging comes from OpenAI's official plugins repository and is part of the build-web-apps plugin for Codex, used to check front-end changes. It first checks whether a browser plugin is available and falls back to Playwright if not. It writes one sentence describing the flow under test: the entry page, the action and the expected result. It then checks that the right page loaded, the content isn't blank, there is no framework error overlay and the console is healthy, and it performs at least one real interaction. It reports like a QA engineer, with consecutive screenshots at the end. Its rule is that a UI change doesn't count as verified without evidence from an actual interaction.
Who it's for:developers building websites with Codex who want it to check its own changes. If you don't write code, it won't be useful to you.
Before you start: written for Codex. It needs a browser plugin or Playwright. Check the repository for license terms.
