What it is
find-skills ships inside Vercel Labs' skills repo, which is also the source of the Skills command-line tool (npx skills). When you ask your AI "is there a Skill for this?" or "how do I do this?", it works out the domain and the specific task, checks the skills.sh leaderboard, and falls back to a keyword search with npx skills find. Its SKILL.md tells it not to recommend anything on search results alone, to favor Skills with high install counts from official sources, and to treat anything under 100 installs or from a repo under 100 stars with caution. Each option it shows lists the name, install count, source and install command, and it installs only after you agree. What sets it apart is that it hands the job of where to look and how to choose to the AI, and it is itself the most-installed Skill on the skills.sh all-time leaderboard, at about 3.8 million installs when checked on October 11, 2026.
Who it's for:people new to AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex who don't know which Skills to install. Readers who don't use AI coding tools won't get much from it.
Before you start: you need Node.js; install with npx skills add vercel-labs/skills and pick find-skills. The Skills it suggests come from third parties, a high install count doesn't make one safe, and this SKILL.md doesn't ask the AI to review their contents, so open each SKILL.md yourself before installing. As written, it installs globally with prompts skipped, so Skills land in your user directory. The Skills CLI collects anonymous usage data; the README says no personal information is included, and DISABLE_TELEMETRY=1 turns it off. The license is MIT.
