What it is

ECC is an open-source collection of AI coding workflows by Affaan Mustafa (GitHub user affaan-m). The README says it works best with Claude Code today, has native plugins for Codex and Qoder, and offers capability-limited adapters for Cursor, OpenCode, Gemini and other tools. It tackles the chore of re-explaining your process in every prompt: install it once and the agent works in order, planning, writing tests, implementing, reviewing and verifying. The README lists 71 agents, 311 Skills and 97 legacy commands; AI Inspiration World recommends only the everyday coding and planning parts. /ecc:plan has a planner agent write an implementation blueprint first; tdd-workflow follows test-driven development (TDD), writing a failing test, making the smallest change that passes, then refactoring; /code-review checks freshly written code from a clean context. There is also /build-fix for build errors, /refactor-clean for dead code, /update-docs for documentation, and review agents and coding rules for languages such as Go, Python and TypeScript. What sets it apart is that review happens in a new context, so the reviewer never sees the reasoning behind the code; a "start here" table in the README maps situations such as building a feature, fixing a bug, reviewing code or repairing a build to the one command to use, so you don't have to read the whole catalog first.

Who it's for:developers already using Claude Code or Codex on real projects who want the agent to follow a fixed engineering process and check its own work. This is a developer tool; readers who don't write code won't get much from it.

Before you start: the README gives two ways to install for Claude Code; pick one and don't stack them: the guided npx ecc-universal@2.2.3 setup, or the /plugin commands inside Claude Code that add the ecc@ecc plugin. You need Node.js 18 or later, Git and Claude Code 2.1 or later. The plugin route installs hooks as well. Hooks are scripts that run automatically while the agent works, and the installer lists what they can do: modify project source files, rewrite commands and start or stop processes, send text derived from your conversation to an external LLM, start or stop MCP processes, block or alter edit and command operations, and keep session and cost records on your machine. We suggest the README's minimal install without hooks (npx ecc-universal@2.2.3 install --profile minimal --target claude), or turning hooks off during the guided setup. The plugin does not turn on its bundled MCP servers by default. Continuous learning and session memory read your conversations and tool output on their own; /astra-review sends code changes to OpenAI through your signed-in Codex CLI; the /multi-* commands need a separate third-party runtime. We haven't reviewed or recommended any of these. Nor have we reviewed or recommended the Skills that post to social media, send email or change GitHub content from your accounts, or those that change network device settings over SSH or control your desktop. We do not recommend agent-payment-x402 (lets an agent pay with a crypto wallet), llm-trading-agent-security and defi-amm-security (aimed at trading agents with wallet or transaction authority and at DeFi trading contracts), or security-bounty-hunter, which asks for confirmed exploitability and a working proof-of-concept (PoC). Three clinical Skills, healthcare-cdss-patterns, healthcare-emr-patterns and healthcare-eval-harness (drug checks, medical records and prescriptions, clinical algorithm testing), have not been reviewed or recommended by AI Inspiration World. ECC Pro and the GitHub App are a separate hosted service that charges for private repositories; check the official site for pricing. The README warns to install only from the official repository, npm packages and website, since third-party re-uploads may contain malware. The repository root is MIT licensed, but some folders carry their own license, for example osint-investigation is CC BY-SA 4.0, so check each folder's license file before reuse.
