What it is
Docker Skills is a set of 11 agent skills published by Docker, grouped by product: Dockerfile and build (project setup and image build strategy), Docker Compose (configuration patterns), Docker Sandboxes (creating and managing local sandboxes, network policy and credentials, declarative environments and reusable kits) and Docker Agent (agent.yaml setup, local runs and deployment), plus a guardrail skill that asks for confirmation before irreversible operations. The README lists Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, Windsurf and Cline among the supported tools.
Who it's for:developers who regularly have agents work on containers, images and deployments. Readers who don't write code won't need it.
Before you start: run `npx skills add docker/skills` to pick the skills you want and install them in a project or user folder, or install from the Claude Code, Codex, Copilot CLI or Cursor plugin marketplaces. You need Docker on your machine, and the README recommends Docker Desktop. The sandbox environment and kit skills are marked experimental. Skills for sandboxes, credentials and deployment let the agent change local containers, network settings and credentials, and even publish to a server, so check permissions before you use them. Docker product and cloud costs follow Docker's own pricing. Apache-2.0 license.
