What it is
deploy-to-vercel is a Skill in Vercel Labs' official agent-skills repo that lets an AI coding agent deploy a website or app to Vercel. It first checks the project: whether it has a Git remote, whether it is linked to a Vercel project, and whether the Vercel CLI is logged in, then picks a deploy method to match. It deploys as a preview by default and only goes to production when you explicitly ask, and it asks before committing and pushing code. When the CLI can't log in, as in the claude.ai or Codex sandboxes, it falls back to a bundled script that packages and uploads the project without an account and returns a preview link and a claim link; the package leaves out node_modules, .git and .env files. What sets it apart is a clear end goal: moving you step by step toward a project linked to Vercel that deploys on every push.
Who it's for:people who have built a site with an AI coding agent and want it online with a link they can share, including vibe coders who rely on AI to write the code.
Before you start: managing the site long term needs a Vercel account, and the first run asks you to log the Vercel CLI in through your browser; a site deployed without an account has to be claimed through the claim link before you can manage it. The no-account path uploads your project files to Vercel's deploy service and only leaves out files like .env, so make sure no secrets sit anywhere else in the project. Vercel's pricing and limits are on its website. On claude.ai you may need to allow vercel.com in your settings first. The license is MIT.
