What it is
claude-motion-design is a Claude Code Skill by Raphaël Aubry, founder of Howseen, for making launch films, product promos, showreels and motion videos for LinkedIn and X. It skips editing apps such as After Effects: the film lives in one HTML page where every frame is computed from time, Playwright screenshots it frame by frame, ffmpeg encodes the video, and sound effects are placed on the music's beats before loudness is normalized. The AI writes the brief, writes the animation code, checks its own frames and fixes them. What stands out: the whole film is one seek(t) function, so the same input gives the same frames every time and fixing one scene leaves the rest alone.
Highlights:
- 4 stills get approved before the full render
- there are checks for frame pops, one-frame flashes and loop seams
- the music drop is found by band energy so it lands on the key visual moment
- the README says the Howseen launch video in the example was made with it, with full source in examples/howseen-launch.
How to use:
- First run mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r skill/motion-design ~/.claude/skills/ to add the Skill to Claude Code.
- Then run pip install playwright imageio-ffmpeg numpy pillow && python -m playwright install chromium for the dependencies.
- Finally ask Claude Code for a video, or type /motion-design.
Who it's for:
Developers and creators who want AI to make launch films and social motion videos in code.
Before you start:
- You need Claude Code, Python and Playwright's Chromium.
- The SKILL.md is written around the author's own workflow and mentions many earlier film folders that aren't in the repo; the repo ships one example.
- The asset scripts go online to download music, sound effects, photos and icons from Mixkit, Pexels, Unsplash, svgl and others, each under its own site's license; 21st.dev needs your own key.
- A few steps in SKILL.md deserve attention: for fake people in mock UIs, it downloads faces from an AI face site and crops to the centre to drop the watermark; a Remake mode downloads someone else's published video and rebuilds it frame by frame as your own brand's version, and the author says never to reuse the original's music, voice or people photos; for meme clips it downloads footage from YouTube with yt_dlp.
- Only use material you have the rights to; remaking other people's work and removing watermarks may raise copyright and platform-terms issues, and that responsibility is yours.
- If you use these features, weigh the safety risks yourself.

- Claude in the name refers to the AI product it works with; the project isn't affiliated with Anthropic.
- The code is MIT licensed; downloaded third-party media keeps its own license, and brand logos belong to their owners.
