What it is
claude-motion is a motion design toolkit by GitHub user whaleyxbt for coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. The author says Remotion Skills teach an agent the API, while this toolkit teaches taste: it gives motion rules with concrete numbers, has the agent render a draft, check one frame per beat, and fix what it finds. It also ships a sound engine written in Python that synthesizes typing, clicks and whooshes on the spot, with no sample library. What stands out: picture, sound and review all read one timeline file, so retiming a beat moves the sound and the checks with it.
Highlights:
- an example video and reusable components such as masked text reveals, rolling numbers and film grain
- a newer sims pipeline captures web simulations frame by frame into 60 fps video
- beats.py finds a track's beats and drop so cuts land on the beat.
How to use:
- First run git clone https://github.com/whaleyxbt/claude-motion, go into the folder and run npm install
- then npm run build makes the example video and npm run studio opens a live preview
- finally ask your agent to follow AGENTS.md: storyboard, timeline, then sound.
Who it's for:
Developers and creators who want a coding agent to make animated clips and product videos in code.
Before you start:
- You need Node 20 or later, Python 3 and ffmpeg; simulations also need Playwright's Chromium.
- The example pieces carry the author's X handle by default, and the README tells you to change it to your own.
- Claude in the name refers to the AI product it works with; the project isn't affiliated with Anthropic.
- MIT license.
