What it is
Chubby Skills is an open-source personal knowledge-base toolkit by GitHub user chubbyguan (credited as Chubby), with 14 Agent Skills and a command-line tool. Its tagline is roughly "feeds forget, a knowledge base remembers, and agents put it to use." We recommend its local knowledge-base features: importing Markdown, TXT and the text of PDFs as Markdown originals with their sources kept; keyword or lightweight semantic search; exporting evidence packs with quoted passages, line numbers, sources and file hashes for an AI to work into topics; and health checks for the library. These parts use only Python's standard library, with no third-party packages, keys or model downloads, and no network access. What sets it apart is that every item can be traced back to its original source, so you can check it before you quote it.
Who it's for:content creators and researchers who save a lot of material and need to find and verify the original when they write.
Before you start: you need Python 3.11 or later (the 3.9 that ships with macOS runs only the core commands). You can use its single command-line tool or copy individual Skills to your agent as needed. We don't recommend the repository's platform collection and related features: video downloads turn off TLS certificate checks; X long-form articles and some platforms use your login cookies; one option downloads a YouTube challenge-solving component from GitHub; local speech transcription downloads model code and trusts it; and the subscription feature can install a system scheduled service on your computer. Cloud transcription, translation and embeddings send your content to third parties and are billed by usage. Content collected from platforms belongs to its original creators. MIT license.
