What it is
Chinese Novelist is an open-source Skill by GitHub user PenglongHuang for writing novels in Chinese. The README says the hardest part of writing a novel is finishing it, and that's the problem it was made for. It starts with three rounds of questions to settle the genre, characters and outline, which you can skip or randomize. Once you approve the plan, it writes chapter after chapter on its own, 3,000 to 5,000 Chinese characters each by the project's rule. It remembers your preferences across sessions, resumes from where it stopped if interrupted, and offers three modes: one at a time, parallel sub-agents, or agent teams. When it's done, it checks word counts and continuity and rewrites a failing chapter up to three times. What sets it apart is that finishing a whole book is the goal, and planning, saving and resuming are all built around it.
Who it's for:writers who want to plan and complete a full-length novel in Chinese.
Before you start: install with npx skills add, a third-party installer that downloads files, or copy it into Claude's skills folder by hand. It saves your preferences, the novel project, outline and characters as local files, and after you approve the plan it keeps writing without asking chapter by chapter. Long books and multi-agent modes use noticeably more AI model capacity and cost more. The README promotes a sponsor's third-party model API gateway; it's optional, needs its own address and key, and sends your content to that service. We haven't checked its pricing or reliability. AI-generated chapters and automatic rewrites come with no quality guarantee. MIT license.
