What it is
build-run-debug comes from OpenAI's official plugins repository and is part of the build-macos-apps plugin for Codex, for Swift and Xcode projects. It first works out the project's shape, whether an Xcode workspace, an Xcode project or a Swift package, and finds the runnable target. It then writes a script/build_and_run.sh that fixes the steps of building, locating the product, stopping the old process and relaunching, and wires it to the Run button in the Codex app. Flags such as --debug and --logs stream logs or attach a debugger. One caution: SwiftUI and AppKit GUI apps should be launched as a bundled .app, not as a raw executable.
Who it's for:developers building Mac apps with Codex. If you don't write code, it won't be useful to you.
Before you start: you need macOS and Xcode or a Swift toolchain. It is written for the Codex app. Check the repository for license terms.
