What it is
brand-guidelines is an Agent Skill that Anthropic publishes in its official Skills repo, anthropics/skills. In the SKILL.md's words, it applies Anthropic's official brand colors and typography to any sort of artifact that may benefit from Anthropic's look and feel. The whole guide sits in one SKILL.md: four main colors (dark #141413, light #faf9f5 and two grays), three accents (orange #d97757, blue #6a9bcc, green #788c5d), Poppins for headings at 24pt and up, and Lora for body text, falling back to Arial and Georgia when those fonts aren't installed. Once the AI has read it, it picks text colors to suit the background and cycles non-text shapes through the orange, blue and green accents; the technical notes say colors are applied through the RGBColor class in python-pptx, a Python library for PowerPoint files. It holds only Anthropic's own visual guidelines and does not extract guidelines from another brand's website or files. What sets it apart is how short it is: no scripts, just a few dozen lines of color values, fonts and rules, and the repo README says these Skills are there for inspiration and to show different patterns, so anyone who wants to turn their own brand guide into a Skill can copy the format.
Who it's for:people making documents or slides in Anthropic's visual style, and people curious how a brand guide can be written as a Skill. To use it for your own brand, you'd write a version in the same format with your own colors and fonts.
Before you start: in Claude Code, run /plugin marketplace add anthropics/skills and then install the example-skills plugin (which installs 12 example Skills together), or copy just the skills/brand-guidelines folder. The repo README says these example Skills are already available on paid Claude.ai plans; check the official site for plan details. It has no scripts, makes no network calls and needs no account or API key. Poppins and Lora need to be installed in your environment beforehand, or Arial and Georgia are used instead. The README says the Skills in this repo are for demonstration and educational purposes only, that what you get from Claude may differ from what they show, and that you should test them thoroughly in your own environment before relying on them for anything critical. Licensed Apache-2.0 (the LICENSE.txt in the folder); that license grants no trademark rights, so work made with these colors must not pass itself off as an official Anthropic product.
