What it is
Agent Sprite Forge is a set of skills by 0x0funky for Claude Code (as a plugin), Codex and Grok. It has 5 modules: codeart2d, generate2dmap, generate2dmedia, generate2dsprite and video2dsprite. Between them they draw 2D art with code, generate 2D maps and assets, generate character sprites, and turn video into sprite animation. The output is what game developers use: sprite sheets, transparent frame-by-frame images and animation assets. What sets it apart is that converting a video straight into sprite animation is part of the package.
Who it's for:Indie 2D game developers and artists who need character animation assets.
Before you start: You need Python 3.10 or later with Pillow, numpy and scipy, plus ffmpeg for video. The installer writes the skills into your skills folder and keeps a manifest. Generating images calls paid APIs such as OpenAI, Gemini, xAI, BytePlus and fal.ai. Once it detects an API key it treats that as consent and doesn't ask again each time, and there is no spending cap by default, so set a budget or call limit before you start. Reference images and video may be uploaded to those services, and each call is logged. Code-art, format clean-up and local conversion don't call any API and cost nothing. Make sure you have the rights to any characters or video you use as source material. The code is free under the MIT license.
