academic-deai is an open-source academic editing skill from GitHub user heise3, whose README states its aim as "Reduce formulaic prose while preserving evidence and author voice." It has your AI assistant edit Chinese and English academic writing by a set of rules: cut stock phrases and repetitive sentence patterns while locking down evidence, citations, numbers, terminology and the strength of each claim, adding no new facts and keeping the author's own voice where it can. You can ask for proofreading only, language polishing, academic translation, or structural revision within the scope you allow. Bundled Python checks can confirm that numbers and citations didn't change between drafts. It works with Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI, OpenCode and similar tools.

Who it's for:Researchers and students writing papers or reports in Chinese or English who want more natural prose without the AI touching their data or references.

Before you start: Copy the whole folder into your assistant's skills folder; the core is written rules and needs no extra API key. The optional checks need Python 3.10+, PDF input also needs pdftotext, scanned PDFs aren't OCR'd, and DOCX comments, tracked changes and formatting aren't fully kept. Your manuscript goes to whichever AI you use, so check that provider's data terms before editing confidential work. The author states plainly that it isn't an AI detector and makes no promise about passing any detection; the examples are synthetic and haven't been independently evaluated. Whether AI editing is allowed is up to your school's or journal's rules. Licensed under MIT; its structural editing approach is adapted from Humanizer, with the original license notice kept.
