About the film
What Remains is an AI short written and directed by Vadim Lasca. It runs about seven minutes and is made as a mockumentary. zero1cine describes it as portraying the present as both ruin and transition: the planet collapses, society fractures and artificial intelligence outlines the end of the human, while a glimmer of hope persists. The creator labels it an AI short in the title, and the FFTG festival lists it under experimental short films. It received the Outstanding AI Narrative Award at AI Film Festival Japan 2025 and an Honorable Mention at CIAIFF 2025. The full film is on the director’s YouTube account.
Who it's for:viewers who like dystopian stories, experimental shorts and the mockumentary form.
Before you watch: on YouTube, about 7 minutes 17 seconds. FFTG lists the language as English; we haven't checked the dialogue or subtitles. We only sampled a few frames with the sound off, and one shows a crowd running and a person holding a gun; we haven't checked how violent the film gets or what age it suits. The sources don't say whether real people or news footage appear in it. No reuse rights are granted.
Based on the creator’s YouTube page, the zero1cine and FFTG film pages, and the winners lists of both festivals. Watch the film itself for the full picture.
