Farewell to an Old Dream

Farewell to an Old Dream is a rebirth romance set in Republican-era China, on Hongguo, a Chinese short-drama platform. It runs to 2 seasons and 129 episodes. The official synopsis says that in her past life Cui Ruyin gave everything to the Gu family, and Gu Linchuan neglected her until she died. Reborn, she withdraws from the bride-choosing contest, leaves Gu Linchuan free to be with Jiang Xinyue, and accepts Pei Jing's earnest proposal instead. What sets it apart is that Hongguo labels the first episode of Season 1 "AI制作 纯属虚构 切勿代入" (made with AI, purely fictional). We found no official AI label for Season 2. The pages don't say who produced it or which AI tools were used.

Who it's for:viewers who like Republican-era settings and rebirth romances that turn from heartbreak to happiness.

Before you watch: start with Season 1. Hongguo's website shows only the first 3 episodes; watching in full means using the Hongguo app. We haven't checked whether every episode is free. The pages don't fully list the dialogue language, subtitles or episode length.
