About the film
REMEMBERING is an experimental short by Canadian director Diego Maclean, finished in 2024 and running about five minutes. The Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) describes it as a reflection on the nature of memory and its many strange facets. The director says the idea for the film came before he decided to use generative AI: he had long been drawn to the way memories shift and fade, and when he first tried Stable Diffusion he noticed it behaved a lot like dreaming. So he built a base from 3D animation, live action and other techniques, then ran it through Stable Diffusion for the final look. The film won the Experimental award at the 2025 Austin AI Film Festival and was selected for BIFAN 2025's Bucheon Choice: AI Films section.
Who it's for:viewers who like abstract, poetic images, and creators curious how AI can work alongside live action and 3D animation.
