About the film
The Shadows Weaver (La Tisseuse d’Ombres) is by Anne Horel and won the Press PRIZE at WAIFF 2026. According to the Vimeo description, it was originally commissioned for PhantasIA, a research workshop program at ARTE France, and began as a chapter-based documentary on themes related to artificial intelligence, questioning the gaze of the machine, the camera and the viewer. The film treats AI as both a tool and a character, a mirror that observes and archives but fails to grasp what makes each of us singular. Writing in the first person, the creator says they trained public domain illustration models on Krea and mixed them with another model trained on their own wacky selfies: "One could say, I am somehow the Weaver myself."
Who it's for:Viewers interested in how machines see us who enjoy essay-style shorts.
Before you watch: Free to watch on Vimeo, about 5 minutes. Language and subtitles are not stated (the description is in English).
