What it is
Token Maze is a browser teaching puzzle game by Kapikat that uses mazes to show how a language model works out the next word step by step. The levels start with the simplest bigram model and work up to transformers. The author says all the model math runs in the browser, and there's a Sandbox where you can write your own JavaScript to experiment. The author's AI disclosure on the page lists AI assistance for code, without naming a model. It's currently labeled a prototype.
Who it's for: People who want to understand how language models work without starting from research papers.
Before you start: It runs in the browser with nothing to download. itch.io lists it as free with an optional way to support the author; check the game page for current terms. No account or API key appears to be needed. It's available in English and Ukrainian, and the page doesn't say whether it works on phones. The author says progress is saved in your browser; the Feedback button is an optional way to send something online, so the game isn't entirely offline. The page gives no license.
