What it is
The Return of Illunes is a turn-based roguelike from 14Dimension Enterprise, released on Steam on October 8, 2026. A small language model running on your own PC acts as the game master: it writes narration, dialogue and the backstory of items and skills, and it judges the actions you type in freely, while damage, numbers and progression stay governed by the game's rules. The store page says "The AI runs locally on your PC.", and the model is NAVER's HyperCLOVA X SEED. The illustrations were generated with AI ahead of time and the narration is prerecorded, so no images or voices are generated during play. The developer says it plays offline once installed, with no subscription, API key or per-use fees.
Who it's for: Fans of tabletop RPGs and roguelikes who want an AI game master without relying on the internet.
Before you start: You buy and download it through a Steam account, with pricing as listed on the store page. Minimum specs are Windows 10 64-bit, 8 GB of RAM, a Vulkan-capable GPU with 2 GB of VRAM and 7 GB of storage, and generation speed depends on your hardware. The interface comes in 13 languages, but AI-generated text is only available in Korean, English and Japanese, and other languages fall back to English. It's dark fantasy with combat and permadeath. The "world's first" claim is the developer's own, and AI Inspiration World hasn't verified the offline play.
