What it is
The List's Champion is a first-person jousting game by Felmeric that you can play in the browser. You charge at your opponent from behind the visor and aim at their armor in real time, where a little timing or aim decides the pass. The rivals get tougher as you go, each with their own riding style and armor, and a Training Mode lets you practice first. The author spells out the AI work in detail. Claude Code, running Claude Opus 5, served as a pair programmer for writing and reviewing code and arguing out the design. Gamelab Studio generated all of the sprite art, from the knight and horse to the field, from text prompts. The tuning, such as lance weight, timing windows, and scoring, was settled by the author through playtesting. The sound is unusual too: 14 sound effects and 5 music loops are all synthesized by an AI-generated Python program, with no samples or recordings. There's no AI voice and no spoken dialogue.
Who it's for: Players who like timing-based action and medieval tournaments.
Before you start: You can play it in the browser or download a Windows build, a Linux build, or a JAR file. The page doesn't say whether phones work. English only. In the comments, the author says it was a last-minute entry made when the jam was extended, and opponents can't unhorse you yet, so it's short and on the easy side. itch.io lists it among its free games; check the game page for current terms. No license is given for the game.
