What it is
Skyhold is a small browser game by X user 0xbobaaa. The site calls it "A cozy city builder on a floating island." Houses arrive one at a time by balloon, and you decide where each one lands, with the goal of keeping the island level. If one side gets too heavy, the island tilts. Past 15 degrees the low rim slides off, and past 19 degrees the island flips and a new one rises. You don't choose what to build; you only see the next piece coming. Towers and castles score well but are heavy, and the balloon is the only piece with negative weight, so it works as a counterweight. The site says a run takes about 3 to 6 minutes, across five chapters that each bring a new island shape. There is also a daily island that is the same for every player, and a shared island that everyone builds together. The site says the game was written by Opus 5.5, and on X the author says pasting one prompt into Opus 5.5 built the game and its trailer. Balance sets it apart from most city builders: the more you build, the more you have to plan around weight.
Who it's for: Players who like short, thoughtful runs without much stress, including a few rounds on a phone.
Before you start: It runs in the browser with mouse or touch, and the site says it's free. English only. Single runs and the daily island need no sign-up. To join the daily leaderboard you add a name, no email needed. To build on the shared island you sign in with a name or with X, and signing in with X links your account and avatar. Once you join the leaderboard or the shared island, your name, scores, and build history are stored on the author's server. Without a name, your scores stay in your own browser. The site also collects visit statistics. It lists the MIT license for three.js but gives no license for the game itself.
