What it is
Shift Protocol is a browser adventure puzzle game made in Godot by itch.io creator DinoMC, who cites the Zero Escape series as inspiration. You and three companions are trapped in a death game with time looping over and over; each round you can talk to the three characters, piecing together clues from different death routes, with the goal of getting everyone to cooperate and escape together. The author says the characters' dialogue runs on Player2's AI ("thanks to the Player 2 AI implementation"), so you can type your own questions to them; no model is named. The game page's tags say no generative AI was used, while the author's description says the NPCs are AI-driven, so readers may want to compare the two.
Who it's for: Players who enjoy deduction and time-loop stories and don't mind talking things through with characters again and again.
Before you start: It runs in the browser. Move with WASD or the arrow keys, and press E or click the text box to type; holding TAB turns speech into text, which uses your microphone and is optional. You need to sign in to a Player2 account. Player2's privacy policy says it collects account details, what you type and optional voice input, may share them with service providers and analytics and advertising services, and may use them to train AI models. The story centres on a death game; we haven't checked how graphic it gets. The page doesn't say whether it works on phones. We haven't played it.
Based on the author's itch.io page and Player2's public information. Not tested by AI Inspiration World.
