What it is
Semantris is a set of word association games released by Google Research in April 2018. You type a word or phrase, and the game scores every word on screen by how well it relates to what you typed. The semantic model behind it was trained on about a billion conversation-like pairs of sentences and can recognize similar meanings, opposites and neighboring concepts. There are two modes: Arcade has a timer and suits quick single-word clues, while Blocks has no time pressure, so you can try longer phrases and sentences.
Who it's for: people who enjoy word games, and anyone who wants a hands-on feel for how AI understands meaning.
Before you start: play it directly in your browser, with nothing to download. The game uses English words.
