What it is
open case is a detective game that @YaoLabs made for Vibe Jam 2026. The pitch: solve a reopened homicide case by reading evidence, finding contradictions and completing a six-answer casebook before sending your final report. The home screen is an investigation desk for a case called "Vintage": a winemaker's brother washes up in dive gear, and a drowning ruling held until the wine cellar records reopened the case. There are 18 evidence files on the desk. There's no action at all; it's all reading and reasoning, much like working through a real case file. The jam rules require at least 90% of the code to be written by AI; the jam page doesn't list which AI tools were used.
Who it's for: fans of detective fiction and deduction puzzles who don't mind reading.
Before you start: under Vibe Jam's rules it's free to play in the browser with no sign-up. Everything is in English, and there's a lot to read. It's a homicide investigation told mostly through written evidence. The page doesn't say whether it works on phones, and no age rating is given.
