What it is
Fly To Mars is a browser space-flight game that Max Zillion made for AI Game Jam 3. You sit in the cockpit of the Ares-IX and go from countdown, liftoff, and stage separation into orbit, then into the asteroid belt. Shaving past rocks builds up near-misses, and enough of them charge your warp drive. Past the halfway mark the hull springs a leak, and you have to seal it while still dodging rocks before riding atmospheric entry down to a landing on Mars. There are four difficulty settings, and the gentlest has no asteroids and no fail state, so you can just enjoy the trip. The author spells out exactly what each AI tool did. Claude Code (the author lists the model as Claude Opus 4.8) handled the main engineering and integration, Kiro a large round of features and bug fixes, and Codex (GPT-5.5) early planning. OpenClaw helped generate the voice comms, Gemini Flash 3.5 made the Mars panorama and clouds, ElevenLabs voiced mission control, and Suno made three soundtrack pieces. The whole game is a single HTML file built with Three.js, and the author says it took about 18 hours.
Who it's for: Players who love space themes and want a short journey with a sense of occasion.
Before you start: It runs in the browser. The author says it's best on a desktop with a keyboard: WASD or the arrow keys steer, the mouse looks around the cockpit, and Shift engages warp. English only. itch.io lists it among its free games; check the game page for current terms. No license is given for the game.
