What it is
Chip Fab Story is a chip factory management game posted on itch.io by damijin under the name protomo. You start with 1971 logic controllers, then hire, research and pick the next product line, growing the business toward future self-improving AI chips while trying not to go bankrupt. The author says the whole project was made in OpenAI's Codex, and the itch.io AI disclosure covers code, graphics, sound and text. What sets it apart is that besides the browser version, the author offers an NES ROM file for emulators, and says it also runs on real Famicom or NES hardware with a flash cart. AI here is the theme and the production tool; playing the game does not call OpenAI.
Who it's for: People who like small management games and retro NES visuals, and anyone curious about the history of the chip industry.
Before you start: The browser version includes on-screen touch controls for phones. The page shows no charge. The game page is in English and does not list in-game languages. NES ROM compatibility with emulators and real hardware is the author's claim, which we have not tried. NES and Famicom are named only as compatible platforms; this is not an official Nintendo game. No licence or privacy policy is stated. The author also hosts a public copy of the same game at another address; this entry links to the itch.io page.
