What it is
Book of Infinity: 1001 Nights is a storytelling game from Ada Eden, drawn from Persian folklore. You play Scheherazade, who must keep a cruel king listening to her stories, typed by you, in order to survive. The key is to steer the king into saying certain words in his replies, which turn into magical weapons for the final confrontation with him. The king's replies are generated in real time by a large language model, and no story follows a script. The store page says all traditional art assets are hand-drawn by human artists, while the AI adapts story frameworks written by paid writers to your input. The game has won awards from AMaze Berlin and SIGGRAPH Asia 2024.
Who it's for: players who like writing stories and are drawn to the idea that language can shape reality.
Before you start: the full game is listed on Steam as free to play, with a release date still to be announced, and a free demo is available on Steam now. It supports Windows and macOS, with English and Simplified Chinese.
