What it is
AI Noir is a text-based detective game by the solo developer Datumbox. At the start of each game a large language model (LLM) invents a new case, writing the suspects, motives and dialogue. You ask questions in plain language or click through options, weigh the evidence, motives and opportunity, and then name the culprit. Since every case is generated on the spot, no two games play the same. You connect the model service of your choice: Gemma or Gemini through Google AI Studio, Anthropic's Claude, or OpenAI's GPT. Downloads are available for Windows, macOS, Linux and Android.
Who it's for: Mystery fans who don't mind setting up their own model service.
Before you start: It's a download with no browser version, and no iOS version is mentioned. You name your own price, and it can be downloaded for free. You need to sign up with a model provider and enter your own API key. Model usage is billed separately by that provider. The author says the key stays on your device, but what you type in the game is still sent to the provider you picked. The interface is in English, and the author says more languages are coming. Progress saves automatically each round. The page doesn't say whether scores are recorded online. No age rating is given.
