What it is
worldmonitor is a real-time global information dashboard by GitHub user koala73. It brings public news, flights, disasters, infrastructure, economic and market signals onto one map and a set of panels, then uses AI to summarize them and link related items. You can view it on the web, and there are desktop apps for macOS, Windows, and Linux, plus a CLI, SDK, and MCP interface. The same repository also holds themed versions for tech, finance, commodities, and energy. Its AI features can run on a local Ollama model, and it also supports OpenRouter and Transformers.js in the browser.
Who it's for:Researchers, editors, and developers who want to follow global public signals on one screen. If you only want news summaries, an ordinary news app will be easier.
Before you start: Some of the web content is open to view. Advanced API and MCP tools need a platform key or OAuth, and upstream API and model costs are separate. The content comes from public sources, including public information on current affairs and security; AI Inspiration World has not verified its accuracy. The finance panels show stocks, crypto, and prediction markets for viewing only, and nothing there is investment advice. With a local model, the AI part can stay on your machine; cloud models, news feeds, and upstream APIs all go online, and the check found no single data deletion policy. The license is AGPL-3.0, so running it as a network service comes with source-code obligations, and upstream data carries its own licenses.
Based on the project's public documentation. Not tested by AI Inspiration World.
