What it is
Unlimited-OCR is published by Baidu (GitHub: baidu): a set of optical character recognition (OCR) models for parsing long, multi-page documents. The repository holds both the Unlimited OCR 1.0 branch and the second-generation Unlimited OCR 2. You load a model on your own machine, hand it images or PDFs, and the output is saved locally. The README recommends Transformers for quick tests and SGLang for serving. It is built for multi-page, very long documents, which typical single-page OCR tools don't handle.
Who it's for:Developers who want to deploy their own OCR model for large volumes of long documents. It is of no use if you don't write code.
Before you start: You need Python, PyTorch and an NVIDIA GPU; the official example uses an A800 80GB-class setup. Model weights are downloaded separately. Loading the model uses trust_remote_code=True, and setup installs a prebuilt wheel shipped with the project. Both run third-party code on your machine, so check where they come from before installing. Run locally, your documents stay on your machine; Baidu Cloud and third-party demos upload them under their own terms. The code is MIT-licensed, but that licence doesn't automatically cover the model weights or the sample book material.
