What it is
rea by GitHub user morluto is a reverse-engineering tool that works as both an MCP server and a command-line tool. The README says "REA connects your agent to tools for inspecting native binaries, JavaScript and Electron apps, .NET assemblies, and websites." It also covers Android apps, firmware and running programs. You install it with npx rea-agents setup. It hands a full reverse-engineering toolkit straight to your AI agent.
Who it's for:Developers doing lawful security research or compatibility work, or analyzing their own software. It is of no use if you don't write code.
Before you start: Node.js and npm are required, and Windows, macOS and Linux support varies by analysis backend. Setup changes your MCP and skill configuration. Optional commercial tools such as Hopper must be bought legally by you, and their installation asks for your approval. Analysis runs locally, but results go to the AI agent you configure; if it uses a cloud model, they leave your machine. Through ADB it can read a phone's logs, screen and APKs and transfer files; runtime capture can launch or interact with target programs under your user permissions. The author limits it to lawful research on software you own or are authorized to analyze. It does not permit use on cracked copies, with stolen keys or to bypass license restrictions. Reverse-engineering someone else's software may breach their license terms or local law, and we do not recommend using it on any software you are not authorized to analyze. This project may control your computer, phone or a large number of account permissions; we have not tested it and do not recommend it. The code is open source under the MIT license.
