What it is

Qiaomu Clipper is a Chrome extension made by X blogger 向阳乔木 (@vista8), built on the open-source Obsidian Web Clipper; it isn't an official Obsidian extension. It clips web pages, shows a clean reading view, prepares transcripts and subtitles for videos and podcasts, lets you write notes in Markdown, and saves them to Obsidian. The README says the AI panel answers questions about the whole text or a selected passage, streams the answer, and keeps the conversation with each article. Reading, watching, checking subtitles and asking AI all happen in one study flow. There is a Chrome Web Store version and a standalone GitHub version, updated separately; the interface comes in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and English.

Who it's for:people who save a lot of web pages, take notes on podcasts and videos, and use Obsidian.

Before you start: the extension is free, and reading, clipping and existing subtitles need no AI setup. AI questions, translation, cloud recognition, image generation and search use your own service or account, which may charge you; no model credits are included. Saving to Obsidian requires Obsidian, and features such as silent saving and local subtitles need a separate local helper program. The privacy policy says the extension reads the current page, its title and any text you select, and when you ask AI a question, the needed text, excerpts, images and question go to the provider you chose. Articles, images and conversations are stored mainly on your computer. Sharing to RSS is off by default; if you tick it while clipping, the URL, title, text and cover are published publicly at rss.qiaomu.ai, and uninstalling doesn't take them back. To download videos or subtitles, it hands the target site's cookies (your signed-in session) to the local helper and yt-dlp. We don't recommend that feature unless you understand it uses your login to download. The code is under the MIT licence; web pages, audio, video and screenshots still belong to their owners.
