What it is
OpenMicro, by GitHub user stephenleo, maps game controller buttons to common actions in coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex CLI, and can open specific functions through app deeplinks.
With a controller connected, confirming, switching and sending can all happen on the buttons, so you don't have to sit at the keyboard; the gamepad becomes a remote for your coding agent.
Who it's for:developers already using Claude Code or Codex CLI who want a different way to work with them. Readers who don't write code won't need it.
Before you start: it is macOS-first, and other systems haven't been tested. You need Node 22 or later, the agents' command-line tools and a game controller. Some actions need macOS Accessibility permission, because it simulates keyboard input. It installs lifecycle hooks in Claude Code and Codex, meaning scripts that run automatically at set points while the agent works, so read what they do before installing. Whether the tool costs anything isn't stated, and model services are billed separately. The code is MIT licensed.
